National HIV Testing Day

Over one million Americans are infected with HIV and approximately one out of every five of them do not know it. Statistics show almost 40% of the people who receive an HIV diagnosis only learn of their infection once they develop AIDS. In many cases, that is 10 years after they first contracted the virus.
In an effort to make more people aware of their HIV status, the National Association of People with AIDS, in association with the CDC, uses June 27 of each year to encourage those at risk for HIV to “Take the Test, Take Control.”
Lowcountry AIDS Services will offer FREE screening for HIV at the following locations on
Monday, June 28th:
- College of Charleston
9:00am to 3pm
- Trident Palmer Campus on Columbus Street
9:00am to 3:00pm
