Early testing allows people to get the care they need, if they have HIV/AIDS. The result: a long, productive life.
Our prevention professionals, case managers, volunteers and board members are available to visit any organization and share current information about HIV/AIDS. Meanwhile, we host numerous support groups at LAS who connect communities of women, young gay men, HIV-positive individuals, and others. African American Church Prevention Education Program

Lowcountry AIDS Services has collaborated with the internationally known "Balm In Gilead" Black Church Mobilization Project for the past seven years. This program encourages Black churches across the country and Africa to promote HIV/AIDS education within their church health ministry's as well as implementing AIDS Care Teams to assist HIV positives individuals in their churches and surrounding communities with day to day needs.
LAS prevention program has recruited 125 Black churches to participate in the "Balm's" annual "Black Church Week Prayer for the Healing of AIDS". In 2001, LAS prevention program helped to form the Tri-County Black Church Week of Prayer planning committee, which is still actively planning and implementing local Week of Prayer activities. The "Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS" is a powerful week of prayer, education and action. This national AIDS awareness campaign engages Black congregations to support, encourage and empower African Americans, Africans and all people of the Diaspora to take action toward stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS in Black communities worldwide. The week of prayer begins the 1st Sunday in March every year.
