Hispanic Community

LAS has implemented the University Of Wisconsin's Popular Opinion Leader (POL) initiative for the Hispanic community. Hispanic community leaders and gate keepers have been recruited to aide in the dissemination of HIV/AIDS/STI prevention and education materials. Safer Sex packets have been distributed throughout the Hispanic community. The Safer Sex packets are all Spanish language and include information for free, confidential HIV testing. There has been a significant increase of Hispanic men seeking HIV testing and referrals to local health departments for STI infections.
